Alpine Data Inc. was founded in 1979 to create vertical market computer software. Over the intervening years we have grown to specialize in financial programs, especially those dealing with matters of taxation. While our staff is experienced with and make full use of the very latest in computing technology, we also recognize that there is a large audience of pragmatic professionals who are focused on technology as a tool, not as a trophy.

To that end, and recognizing that most business accounting functions are primarily character based, Alpine Data is committed to developing applications using the familiar, rock-solid MS-DOS operating system. We are constantly working with and creating prototype programs using Windows®, but as long as there is a strong demand for DOS-based programs that run quickly and reliably on a wide range of hardware, Alpine Data intends to meet that demand.

Alpine Data Inc is located in Montrose, Colorado in a high desert valley in the Southwestern part of Colorado. The San Juan range of the Rocky Mountains rise to over 14,000 feet to our south, with snow visible on the northern faces pretty much year round. The 9,000 foot Uncomphagre Plateau squeezes dry any storms from the west, while to 10,000 foot high Grand Mesa shields Montrose from the north.

Now primarily agricultural (including cattle and timber) in nature, the area has a rich history in mining, acting as a commercial hub for such fabled towns as Silverton, Ouray and Telluride. The Gunnison River not only supplies abundant irrigation for the valley, but also has created the spectacular Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument immediately to the east.

In this pastoral setting with spectacular views in all directions, Alpine Data’s analysts, programmers, testers and support personnel will continue to produce solid, cost-effective software to meet the needs of its clients.
